Re: Pop Ups

I am not sure but I think I have an idea as to what's causing it. No Jeff, I have not sold out to "The Man" or that the site has become corporate. This blog site is still very much ours except for the potential of worldwide eyes looking into it.

Last week or so, I added a so-called "Tag Board" or message board to the site. I have not experienced unusual pop ups myself but since the board comes from a different provider, it might as well be the sender of these annoying pop ups. I have a different problem with it altogether. It slows down the refresh rate of the site. At some odd times, the board provider may be experiencing technical problems and the refresh rate is even slower or refuse to refresh at all. This might be the other problem that Marvin referred to - that the postings are showing too low from the top -- and that's because it has not refreshed fully.

I have added this Tag Board hoping that it might be useful as a means to post quick and short messages to each other and perhaps even to use it as a chat box. Unfortunately, as those of you who have tried using it (like Jean and Ernan Joy) found out, it is not very efficient. Thus, I think it's best to suspend this feature. I am not thinking of completely doing away with it but if I decide or if any of you think it could someday be useful (if it works), then I will look for another provider and install their version. We'll see.

As of now, the Tag Board is gone. I hope there is no more annoying pop ups and unsual slow speed or other problems. Update me.

Pop ups

Does anyone get a whole bunch of pop ups when you visit this site? I only get them when I go on the site. And why are the postings so low on the page? I'm used to seeing the postings at the top of the page. I actually thought the page didn't fully load up but I looked to the right of the screen and saw that I could scroll down. I like the postings visible at the top. Thank you for your cooperation and I look forward to your continuing pursuit of excellence.

U.J. you don't have to change a thing. You took the time to make this site work so you should be able to lay it out anyway you want. Don't mind me. It's very early in the morning and I am just prolonging the inevitable. We are going to visit Marjorie and family in North Carolina and I don't want to load up the Jeep. It's very cold outside and everyone is still asleep. I still have to put the shuttle on top of the Jeep so I can put the luggage and all of Ethan's travel necessities in it.
I better get moving so everything is ready when they get up. I'll try to get Marjorie and Mom and Dad to post this weekend. Post to you later. Next stop - Wilmington.

I missed my train this morning ......

...so I had to take the first bus to go downtown where I work. (Trains are available only during rush hours and that was the last train in the morning.) The thing is, I was not the only one who missed that train so a line up quickly formed for the bus. Fortunately for me, I was probably just the 15th on the line and I was happy about it.

While on line, a lady of about 30 was standing sort of between me and the guy in front but she was not really in line. I know she can't because she just arrived. But instead of going to the end of the line she, just stood still. I thought I knew why and I was right.

When the line finally started to move for boarding, she started moving too - sideways into the line in front of me. Pretending to be polite, she asked me "Were you ahead of me?" And I answered rather miffed, "Of course I was!" and annoyedly pointed to end of the line. She then tried to go behind me but she was obviously under observation as well by the girl behind so she was rebuffed again, and a short argument between them ensued.

The point is, I think I was a bit rude but then again, the lady acted unladylike. What should I have done?

And folks, that's how my day started today. Glad to say, the day was good the rest of the way. End of story. But then the snow ... never mind.

UPDATE: I missed mentioning: Jean, Jen and Ernan Joy also had a perfect day. Good for them. I am sure the other folks have similar experiences. Tell everyone about them

Our New Wheels

That's me and Al with our new cars.

Yesterday, Albert and I went to the Toronto Auto Show, a place where they show, you know, a lot of good-looking women (and gentlemen) peddling nice new cars. Albert had a good time gawking at all those cars, Ferrarris, Lamborghinis, Hummers, etc. I also had a good time sneaking glances at the other type of displays. ("Muahahaha", to quote Cristina).

I've been to one of these before, and personally, I think it is a waste of my time. I am not planning to buy a new car in the near future, so there is no point looking at one now when I will forget about it in no time. Others will come up in a year or so. Having said that, I had a good exercise walking around the huuuuge place. Also, since Albert obviously had fun, it was well worth the effort. What with the quality time we had together as father and son. Nice! (Besides, we used complimentary tickets from Janice's friend.)

I just hope I did not strain my eyes... and my neck.

Lastly: a statement, overheard near one of the Chrysler cars: "I am not a big fan of Chrysler myself " uttered by a three-foot midget guy.
