After Bernadette's birthday yesterday, two more in the clan are celebrating their birthdays today. That brings our January celebrants to four.

They are, taraaan!! Susan in Canada and Louwill in the Philippines. Happy Birthday to both of you.

Those of you who don't know any of them, please raise your hands.

Another week .....

Friday! TGI Friday! Well, another week another loonie. Ooops, that doesn't quite rhyme. Here's a money lesson for the non-Canadians. The "loonie" is what we call our $1.00 coin. (Now, don't make a joke. Our loonie is worth more than just a penny of your money.) We also have a 2-dollar coin and we call it "toonie." Why do we call them so? The reason for "loonie" is obvious. On one side of the coin a relief of the Canadian goose, aka loon. "Loonie", get it? Now for the "toonie", it's more of a joke if not a tongue-in-cheek designation. Maybe even due to lack of imagination. It's "too" dollars, you see. So it's "toonie."

I can't be a good teacher...never mind.

So it's the end of the week and I do not have big plans for the weekend. Besides, I will probably be working at home, remotely babysitting our computers in the office. Also, Mom is also on duty for the next two days. Well, I'll be stuck with Albert (or he'll be stuck with me) and we'll probably have our own Men's Day, unless Cristina sticks with us too. Too bad, I do not have car parts to show him. Maybe we can go out in the cold and I'll teach him how to drive to make use of his new license.

Just rambling .....

Yay..i am old

Hey everyone...
thanks for all the wonderful birthday greetings...but dad why did you post such an unattractive picture of me in my touque? I am having a good day so far. I took the day off from volunteering, got some money from mom and dad (THANK YOU!!), I went to the gym, went grocery shopping and now I'm baking cupcakes. i think i'm going to take a nap later. And tonight we're having ice cream cake! A day with ice cream is always a great day! Tomorrow i'm going out with my friends to celebrate. woohoo!! I love my birthday.

I hope everyone else is well, too!!

joyce

PS. welcome Dr. Jeff!

Men's Day

My car part came in yesterday and I just opened up the box. Item as described. Yes I bought it from Ebay. It's the wooden pieces that cover the center console, gear shift plate, retractable ashtray and cupholder units. All in brand new condition. All I really needed was the gear shift plate. My original one was cracked. Everything else was extra parts that I didn't need. I got it at such an unbelievable price that I couldn't resist. If you got all these replacement parts at the dealership, how much would you expect to pay? Lots right. Well I picked up everything for 31.00 dollars. I still can't believe it. I'll probably sell the extra parts I don't need back on Ebay for profit.
Ethan has been napping for a while now. I'm tempted to wake him up so I can show him my new car parts. It's too cold outside for him to watch me install the parts so we'll end up just staring at it on the coffee table.

Welcome Home Jeff!!

Hey Dr. J. Welcome to the blog. How are things going? Everything is fine here. Have you noticed we haven't been bugging you for your baby advice? We didn't want to annoy you too much. He's doing well. We were thinking of going up there to visit. Maybe the summer. We really don't know what we are going to do for vacation. Have you ran any marathons lately? Wow, that's a lot of questions. Sorry. I tried to get Marjorie and Mark to take a look at this site, but Marjorie's internet is not working and her ISP is not telling her how to fix it. I'll take a look at it when we go there next month. As for Mark, he is always on the go. He is really into his job. Who can blame him, it's like getting paid to have fun. I think next week he will be in Belize hosting some MTV contest with Destanys Child. Right before Christmas he gave up the Oceans 12 premere in Italy because he had something else to do. What could be better than spending the weekend with those 12. What a hard life. Now back to Marjorie. She and Paul are expecting their 2nd at the end of March. Baby Noah. After the birth she tells me she will take a year off from teaching to take care of the kids. By the way, Maria is doing well too. She looks just like Marjorie only smaller.
Tara is also doing well. She's working a twelve hour shift today at the hospital so it's me and Ethan day. The men's day out.

Happy Birthday Joyce

Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday dear Joy-cey, Happy birthday to you.

BJ Day

Happy Birthday, Bernadette! May you have a lot more Happy Birthdays to come, Anak.

We Love You.

Two more quotes

I know quotes are Albert's thing, but I have two that you guys may enjoy.

"Don't be afraid to give up the good to get the great."
- - John D. Rockafeller, founder of Standard Oil Company

"Quality is doing something right when no one is looking."
- - Henry Ford, founder of Ford Motor Company

Marvin says:

Cristina, or Tina, or crissy, or Tinay? Who are you people? Even Joey wants to be called Joe now. I think at school he may even go by Joseph. Does Joyce still go by Joyce or Bernadette? Maybe this should have been a post instead of a comment. Anyways, this is a comment to your comment on my posting.

Birthday countdown

1 day left....

Dinner Time

Dinner was very good tonight as always. Tara made a dish she found on the net. It had penne pasta with shrimp, spinach, and alfredo sauce. It was so good, lite yet filling. I think I will have some for breakfast. Ethan thought the pasta was a little weird so he didn't eat very much of it. I ended up making him a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and a side of mandarin oranges. He loves the pb&j's. Speaking of food, Tara can also make Adobo and Menudo - not the original 80's boy band, the food. You know, the chicken with the potatoes and bell peppers in the tomato paste sauce. I think it's Filipino, Mom makes it. In addition to those two she hopes to master pansit and Lumpia. Sorry if I am butchering the spelling but spell check doesn't pick up these words. If windows is international, so should spell check! Does spell check pick up your Canadian words? Ha Ha.

The Cabotajes, That's Us Posted by Hello

Just got home from a meeting

I just got home from a 3:00 meeting. Those meetings are just about as much fun as Uncle J's root canal surgery. One good thing came of it though. We just sealed a 1.1 billion dollar deal to supply pharmacuticals to the Government. I hope it's not more work than it's worth. I have to go now dinner is almost ready.

welcome

hey guys....welcome marvin south of the border to cabotaje, thats us. Now that you are a full-fledged member, dad has the right to nag you about "blog, blog, blog, blah, blah, blah." Good luck. You dont know what you've gotten yourself into!!! hahahahaha.....

anyways...i hate snow so so so much. I almost slipped off the subway steps last night cuz they were too slippery and too full of snow!!! TTC please clean your stairs, or I will sue. And i almost fell trying to run for the bus! Commuting is the devil. i hope my prof doesn't show up for class this morning, due to the snow. Last week he was late because of it, let's hope this time he just doesn't bother to show up! But tonight the snow better be cleared cuz i have plans! CURSE YOU SNOW...you will not ruin my plans again!!!!!! Can you tell how much i HATE snow!!!

I'm not doing too much right now. I'm just waiting for manag to come home so she can take me too school. Let's hope I don't make her mad again. haha....sorry MJ, aka crybaby. I was up till 2am last night typing out a psych paper for my Childhood disorders class. I had to make-up a psych assessment and a treatment plan for a fictional character given in class. It is quite interesting actually. My 15 year old client has bulimia nervosa (binge-purge episodes), Major depression syndrome and is experimenting with drugs and alcohol. Poor girl. I was gonna give her Boderline personality disorder but that made it too complicated. Anyway, i had to treat her using Cognitive Behavioual Therapy. Sounds like fun. huh??

well, thats all i have to say. Manang's home. she says i'm leaving at 9:30...on the dot...or else...so i gotta get ready! She might beat me. ; 0

Later days...have a good one!

joyce

PS.... Joyce's birthday countdown: 2 days!!

My first posting!

Thanks for letting me post my own postings. What a great way to let everyone know what's going on and not having to call 50 people to do so. Uncle J and family, I'll try to log on, post, and or comment on a regular basis so we can keep this thing rolling. I'll even try to do different things like write in bold or use colors to emphasize certain words. Talk to you later.

I'm off today from work

I am not sick but I took the day off today. I wish I could say I accomplished a lot at home but I could not because I did not. I had to spend almost two hours at the dentist's office. You see, I had this terrible, terrible toothache on New Year's Day and the day after. The stateside Lombos side of the clan know this very well because I could not even do my part to entertain them at the time. Oh, they all said they understood but still, it's embarrassing. My toothache was just unbearable and could I just writhe in pain in bed, alone. Aspirin helped a bit but only for a few minutes and I could not take it every ten minutes or so. But anyway....

After four sessions with the dentist, he finally decided to do the root canal surgery that he had prescribed for for my tooth right on my first visit but that he has kept postponing because the infection and the swelling was really bad. It took that long to heal.

Finally, root canal today. It did not hurt a bit and Momma would have been glad to see the house in better order or the remaining snow on the driveway pushed farther to the side.

Sorry Mom. Better luck next time.

I'm going back to work tomorrow. (And it will snow again tonight until tomorrow noon.)

Marvin to Jean

Marvin says:

Jean, what part of Mechanicsville do you live. Wow small world. It's like when we were younger and living in VB five minutes away too.
