Snow, Mass, Food
Lucky are the Southerners in that they do not have to suffer the snow.
Here we are in the middle of March and the snow still keeps on coming. There is almost nothing to blog about but the snow. And that's what I will write/complain about tonight. This time it wasn't really that much but it was freezing snow that fell and that kind makes the roads "really slippery" (vs. merely "slippery"). All drivers except the crazy ones were doing 10 or 20 km/hr and that's really slow.
But no snow can keep us away from Church. We attended Mass today. The Bishop of Toronto was the celebrant and because of that, it was a special Mass and was well attended. But more than that, Albert served as an altar boy and was the designated assistant to the visiting Bishop. Mom, was of course, very proud of her boy.
And then there was the reception at the church hall where we stuffed ourselves with all kinds of cookies, cakes, and sweets. Will this over-eating ever stop? We had giant steaks last week for our pre-anniversary treat from the kids. (They are not telling but I think they might have spent a month of their pay for it). On our actual anniversary, Mom and I returned the favor and treated them at a chicken house, a decidedly lower class place than the steak house. Tomorrow, there will be another little gathering in the house where all the usual gang will be coming. It is supposed to be a continuing anniversary party for those who were not part of the previous ones. The food won't be as classy but it will be filling enough and fattening too, I'm sure.
Come join us.
For us Northerners, including of course the Chicagoans, that's how we deal with the snow, I think.
